Easy Honey Lemon Salad Dressing
I've ditched bottled dressings a long time ago - they are never as good as homemade and are usually made with funky, low quality ingredients.
Homemade dressings are so easy and fast to make! Don’t believe me? Check out my Maple Balsamic Dressing, Greek salad dressing and Caesar salad dressing recipes.
Made with fresh squeezed lemon juice and high quality olive oil and honey, this simple salad dressing really sings on everything from a simple spring mix to my delicious and festive Pomegranate Feta Salad.
And with no additives or chemical preservatives, it will give you something to sing about, too. You might just never buy salad dressing again.
Ingredient notes

- Extra virgin olive oil - use a quality oil for best flavor
- Fresh lemon juice - from one large lemon
- Dijon mustard - I like Gray Poupon
- Honey - good quality pourable honey works best
- Salt
See recipe card for quantities.
How to make honey lemon vinaigrette
- Place all ingredients in a salad dressing shaker or a mason jar.
- Secure the lid and shake vigorously until smooth and emulsified.
- Use immediately or store for later.

How to Serve This Honey Lemon Dressing
It’s the perfect dressing for any salad, especially if you’re looking for an extra bright and fresh flavor profile. Try it on my Chopped Salad, Chickpea Greek Salad, Apple Gorgonzola Salad or Beet and Feta Salad.
You can also use this vinaigrette dressing as a marinade for chicken or pork. It’s great with my Easy Chicken Kebabs.
Storage Tips
Store this easy homemade salad dressing in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Let the refrigerated dressing sit at room temperature for a bit, and give it a shake before dressing a salad.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- This recipe will also work with agave nectar or maple syrup, although the flavor of the dressing will change slightly.
- Quality, fresh ingredients, especially the olive oil and honey, will work best for this recipe.
- Be sure to use extra virgin olive oil and not regular. EVOO is better for dressings and marinades whereas regular is better for sauteeing and other high heat cooking.
- Don't be tempted to swap out fresh lemon juice for bottled juice. You may save a few seconds, but you’ll sacrifice a lot of flavor.
- Feel free to add 1 clove of minced garlic to the vinaigrette if you like.
